Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 getting Android 2.1 upgrade in Q4 2010


The software upgrade path for the Xperia X10 family of products has finally got some direction. According to the Official Sony Ericsson Product Blog, the Xperia X10 family of phones, Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro, will be upgraded to Android 2.1 in Q4 2010. The handsets will finally receive the UXP upgrade.

UXP builds on top of the Android OS and puts forth a rich graphical user interface, incredible service plug-ins and content from external partners to render distinctive user propositions such as Sony Ericsson’s signature applications Mediascape and Timescape. With this new upgrade, users can get an unprecedented level of communication entertainment.

After the upgrade, the Xperia X10 will be able to record video at 720p and connect to other consumer electronics devices using Digital Living Network Alliance. Apart from this, there will be an additional smaller software update. It will arrive in the next couple of weeks and aims to enhance the usability and performance on the X10.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro will be upgraded to Android version 2.1, during Q4 2010.
